The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program runs from June 1 to October 31. Eligible participants will receive checks to buy fresh Iowa-grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs at your local farmers’ market!

The Farmers Market Nutrition Program

Checks are no longer available for pick up for the 2022 season. If you have checks from this year, they can be redeemed at open markets until October 31st, 2022. Please check back early next year for information for the 2023 season. 

ELIGIBILITY

  • The following participants are eligible for farmers’ market checks if they were active participants as of May 31 of the current year:
    • Pregnant women
    • Postpartum women
    • Breastfeeding women
    • Children 1 to 5 years
    • Infants 9 to 12 months

HOW IT WORKS

  • Click here to watch a short video on how to use your checks.
  • Eligible participants will receive $30 dollars for the farmers’ market season (June 1 – October 31).
  • Participants will receive six $5.00 checks.
  • Checks can only be used where the “Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Checks Welcome Here” sign is posted. Find a Farmers’ Market Location. 
  • Participants should sign each check at purchase.
  • You can use more than one check at a time.
  • You will not receive cash back. Try to spend in $5.00 increments.
